Functional Reconstruction of the Female Urinary Tract"

is an outstanding contribution to urologic and gynaecologic teaching and training. Every chapter contains detailed descriptions of surgical principles and procedures with 1600 award-winning colour illustrations by Paul Richardson that are based on original drawings by Richard Turner-Warwick, together with clinical photographs. This book includes many "tricks of the trade", "pearls of wisdom" and original concepts that are not available elsewhere.

A real in-depth understanding of both normal and abnormal functional behaviour is fundamental to the achievement of efficient and reliable reconstruction of the urinary tract. This understanding can only be obtained by appropriately objective urodynamic evaluation and measurement. The principles of these were developed in a pioneering urodynamic clinic that was created with Professor Graham Whiteside at the Middlesex Hospital, London, in the early 1960's. The actual procedures did not become generally available in urological and gynaecological clinical practice until the late 1970's. The details of these concepts were extensively recorded in "Clinics of North America" in January 1979 and also in a filmed interview of Richard Turner-Warwick by Dr. David Rickards that was presented at the annual meeting of the British Association of Urological Surgeons in 1987. The message of both these communications are still just as important and relevant today as they were 20 years ago.
